Laundry Room Reveal!

Well friends...the laundry room is 90% complete so I am sharing with you today! This was the quickest redo we have accomplished in our home to date. Of course, it has everything to do with the small size of this room, which is approximately 5' X 6". It contains only my washer and dryer and a broom closet which is not complete so I won't be sharing pix of it today.

First, I will remind you that the reason we even remodeled this room was due to the fact that my washing machine broke last week and had to be replaced. Since my dryer was really old as well, we decided to buy a new matching set. I love the pretty new set I got. We went with a more old fashioned set with knobs instead of a digital key pad. The hubby wanted simple...less to tear up...and honestly, I did too. This one has more bells and whistles than my old set for sure and does way more than I will ever learn how to use I'm sure. We installed corrugated tin for wainscoting and I love it! It looks so good in this small space. You may notice the crown molding is not finished...we ran out and I have to get more. I also have to go pick out a new light fixture. We installed shelves over the washer & dryer to hold all sorts of things. 

The top of the dryer holds my laundry supplies. The small basket holds dryer sheets. 

I used a variety of baskets and containers that I already owned. The only new purchase for this room was the black and white striped canvas tote on the bottom shelf. I bought it at the Target $ Spot last night after we picked up the washer and dryer. I am loving black and white stripes these days and I couldn't resist this cutie for $3!

I used a mix of natural wicker and straw baskets, as well as silver and black. I wanted to use neutrals against the aqua blue walls.

Every piece of "art" on the walls are things I already had or was created with things I already had. This glass covered burlap is my basket storage list. It is written in dry erase so I can easily change out things in the baskets and just erase and rewrite the contents as needed. I hung my dictionary page/vintage graphic art pieces beside it. To the left is my back door.

The other wall holds my ironing board shelf that I made a couple years ago, as well as a couple framed pieces and some galvanized wall buckets. I haven't decided what to store in these yet but I will label them when I do. The broom closet is just to the right of the ironing board shelf.

This is my favorite little vignette...:) My Scrabble tiles are such fun!

Sadie was happy to have her bowls back in their "home" after the remodel...:)

I love, love, love the corrugated tin walls!

This little area still needs work. It is the wall that still needs crown molding. It also needs corner moldings and a new light switch box and plate in white. I painted the electrical panel box to help camouflage it and will hang my ironing board and iron on this wall.

I added this label after I took the photos above. I always keep a bucket or basket to put dirty dish towels in. You can also get a closer look at the fabric I made the curtain from. It was made to hide the hoses and such behind the washer and dryer. I used fabric I got in my surprise box from Decor Steals earlier in the year. It is perfect in here I think!

One more shot before I leave you. I hope you enjoyed your tour of my tiny laundry room! Some day when we finish the broom closet and kitchen pantry, I will share those as well. We ahve been so blessed to have been able to remodel as much as we have over the past couple years.

Before & After...Laundry Room Art

Happy Monday friends! I have a little before and after to share with you today. Have you ever bought something at a thrift store or yard sale that you had no idea what you were going to use it for but you just had to have it? Well, that's the story behind these wooden plaques you see below.

I liked the small size and the hangers at the top. I knew eventually I would find a use for them, so they came home with me and went into the project stash. I had an idea for wall art for my laundry room redo and went to my stash to look for picture frames and spotted these while I was looking. I immediately knew they were perfect for my project. I painted them black and didn't even bother trying to get the old floral print off the wood. It will be covered up anyway. Sorry for the blurry photo. These are all taken at night with my iPhone.

I went looking for vintage laundry graphics and my search led me to the Graphics Fairy site. I chose a few and printed them on vintage dictionary pages.

Notice the word iron on the page? I printed each object on the page containing the definition for it.

Next I needed a way to attach the pages. I didn't want to decoupage them on, so I decided to use a few old upholstery tacks I had on hand. I had exactly the number I needed! 

Here is the final product! I was having a hard time getting a picture without shadows so sorry for the odd angle. I will share again after they are hung in the laundry room. I love the way they turned out and are even better than I had envisioned.

I am using neutrals to decorate with in my laundry room because I did something a little different for me. I used color paint on the walls. I also used corrugated tin for wainscoting. Here's a little sneak peek! I can't wait to get it finished! I'll share an update soon. We are going to purchase my new washer and dryer tomorrow and should have the majority of the redo complete by then. It has been a pretty quick project due to the small size of the laundry room. It is approximately 5' X 6'. Pretty small but it gets the job done!

Laundry Room Budget Makeover!

 I wanted to share my mini-makeover in my laundry room.....done on a budget! I've been adding to it over the past few months and it still isn't finished, but I'm enjoying adding to it as I can. We still have to finish our new broom closet that used to house a furnace, put bead board on the walls, and I really want a new washer and dryer, but I don't know when that will happen!

So, I'll show you what I have done...:) First up is an overall picture....I'm loving the color scheme!

The bins up on the top shelf were the first thing I added. They are left over from one of my classroom color schemes and I no longer needed them at school. I added clothespins that I covered in pretty paper and cards labeled with what is in each bin. Cost = FREE! Next up is the curtain hanging behind the washer and dryer to hide hoses. It is actually a tablecloth that I found at a yard sale for a whopping $1! It is like new and Waverly brand.....I love the colors and it matches the bins perfectly! I just draped it over a tension shower rod so I can use it for a tablecloth in the future if I want to. Cost = $7! (tension rod & tablecloth)

The dryer holds a lazy Susan that I bought at the Goodwill, a basket that I have had forever that holds dirty dish towels until I wash them, and a little bowl that holds loose change and other items left in pockets. It came from TJ Maxx. Also on the lazy Susan is a large clothespin decoration that I bought at Michaels. I spray painted it to match. Total Cost = $6

Here is the clothespin mirror you can read more about here. I got it at the Goodwill and the clothespins were in my craft stash and left over from first grade where I used them to pull names. Total Cost = $2

This next item was the most expensive part of the room....my new rug. I found it at the Dollar General the other day. The colors are great and match so well! Total Cost = $8

This is a close-up of the Waverly tablecloth. It is so pretty.....:)

Grand Total = $25! Not too bad for a cute laundry room! I hope you enjoyed the mini tour. I'll update when I do something else in there...:)
