Five...Well, Actually Six On Friday from My iPhone!

Hello there and Happy Friday to you! I'm joining once again for Five On Friday by the lovely Amy! I do enjoy having time for fun parties during my summer break! Speaking of parties, last Friday I went to my friend, Jeana's house for lunch. We hadn't had a chance to get together lately, so my sister, Nancy and I went over for lunch. Our friend, Heather wasn't able to make it this time and we all missed her. It was a great day though! Jeana is known for her cooking ability...she is an awesome cook! Since we have all been trying to eat healthier, she made us a Cobb Salad. It was so delicious! Pretty too, huh?
And just look at that beautiful tablescape!

This is the reason we got together at Jeana's! She just had a brand new pool built and it is so gorgeous! We lounged in the pool for hours! I don't think we left until after six in the evening! I can't wait to go back again.

Saturday night, we watched fireworks!

Tuesday night, I tried another new to me Pinterest recipe. It was so delicious! I try to make a couple new recipes each week. They are almost always found on Pinterest and are always good! This was Asian Beef with Mushrooms and Broccoli. The recipe called for snow peas but I didn't have any so I used broccoli instead. I prefer broccoli anyway. It's one of my favorite veggies. It was very flavorful and I will definitely make it again.

Wednesday, I rode to town with my parents. I needed to pick up a few things and they were going, so I tagged along. We went to Taco Bell for lunch and someone had brought in some of these beauties. They are Dinner Plate Hibiscus. They were huge! I put my hand in front of one so you can see how big they are. So pretty! I want one!

Yesterday (Thursday), I invited Mama and my Aunt Loretta down for lunch. I made one of my favorite sandwiches....turkey, bacon, guacamole, lettuce, tomato, and chipotle mayo on a toasted sub roll. I cut up some sweet potato fries as well. It was pretty tasty. Mama made this delicious blueberry cobbler/crisp with coconut in the topping. We had it with vanilla ice cream...yum!
Thanks again Mama!

That's my week in review. I had a pretty quiet week. I slept in a few mornings (which I never do), and piddled around the house. I enjoyed some down time. I hope each of you had a lovely week. May your upcoming week be blessed, bright, and beautiful! Oh...if you're interested, pop in tomorrow if you would like a tour of my craft room. I will be joining the Where Bloggers Create party!  Thanks for stopping by!

Until next time.....

Five On Friday from my iPhone!

I'm running a little late, but I wanted to join Amy for this week's Five On Friday. Hop over there and visit her! This week was the busiest one of my summer break so far. I was on the go the first three days and then trying to play catch up on everything yesterday. Let me share what I've been up to.

Monday, I went and picked my son up from his house and took him to the Dr. We had a nice day after the appointment. i took him to lunch and we got a dessert after to take home. I chose a cookie dough cupcake and he chose Reese's Cup. Yummy! After lunch, I ran into Hobby Lobby real quick and then took Dakota back home. After I dropped him off, I ran to a couple thrift stores and only bought one thing at each one. I'll point them out in a photo below.

When I got home, I checked my mail and had some surprise happy mail form my sweet blog friend Tania. She blogs over at Little Vintage Cottage...be sure to visit her! Anywho, she had shared a couple weeks ago that she scored a whole box of vintage books for free. One of the books was A Christmas Carol. I mentioned in a comment that I had started collecting this book and she surprised me and sent it to me! I was so excited! Thanks again Tania! The page with the copyright and day is missing but I was able to find one like it on eBay by searching for the illustrators. Apparently this book is circa 1900! How cool to think about someone holding this book in their hands and reading it over 100 years ago. It amazes me...:) It now sits proudly on my bookcase with the others. The little bowl is a favorite find from a few years ago. It has two scenes on it and says Dickens Days. I love it!

Tuesday, I went to Jacksonville with a couple of my teacher friends from work. We went to a teacher supply store called School Aids. I found some super cute stuff to decorate my classroom. We ate a nice lunch at Applebee's and then went to hobby Lobby.....yes, I went twice in one week! I am putting myself on a pretty strict NO BUY JULY! LOL!

I have recently become addicted to planners. You know, the kind with calendars for the month and week as well as places to make lists and keep up with life in general. Well, it is a big thing right now and the reason I fell in love with it is simple. It is a combination of many things I have always loved to do. I love being organized, writing things down, making lists, using stickers, washi tape, and pretty stationery, and decorating. I had to start doing this! Here's my July layout. So much fun!

This led me to redoing my desk area. I wanted to make room for my new planner accessories, so I added a couple small shelf units I had picked up last month for my classroom to the side and gave it an "L" shape. It's hard to tell in this picture, but I'll share some more soon. I also started a new gallery wall above the desk. The two thrift store finds are the shelf on the desk which I believe used to be on a twin bed. The other thing is the yellow and pink floral artwork with the white frame. It is hand painted watercolor. The frame was yellow but I painted it to make the flowers pop. It was only $0.99. The shelf is quite large and solid wood. It was $9.99. I am enjoying this new set up!

Next week promises to be a quiet one. Not too much going on which is nice. I have several things that need to be started and/or finished! Have a lovely weekend and Happy 4th of July to all my American friends!
Be safe and.....

Five On Friday

Hello friends!
I'm excited to finally be linking up with Amy for Five On Friday!
I've been wanting to join this party for a while and now that I have extra time on my hands during summer break, I can do it! These 5 photos are all from my iPhone.

First up is a delicious new recipe I made for the hubby and I for supper earlier this week. It is called Skinny Enchilada Casserole. I was VERY impressed with this delicious dish and highly recommend you try it.

Number two is a shot of  my new bar stools. I ordered these from Overstock and am loving them! This is the first time I have shared a picture of my bar area from the kitchen remodel. While I'm sharing, I have a question for you. See the white air conditioning return vent to the left? Do you think it looks OK white (the color it came in) or would it look better to paint it a color that would blend in with the wood and make it "disappear"? I am on the fence about it. If you don't mind, please give your opinion in a comment....your comments make me :) !

Number three is a two in one, so I cheated a little on the number...lol! I found this adorable little milk glass canister with the cute retro flowers on it a few weeks ago. I think I paid a dollar or so for it. Anywho, I wasn't loving the black lid, so presto, change-o...now it's pink! his little jewel will of course live in my happy place...my craft room!

Picture number four is also my happy place...I hung the new bunting I stitched last week. Isn't it cute? I love the green fabric with the thread spools on it!

And, number five is a simple little project I completed this week. I don't know about you, but I love the color of cardboard boxes. They are such a nice neutral color. I like to keep really nice, lidded boxes and reuse them in my craft room. The top one came this way with a pair of sandals I ordered.  The bottom one is actually turned inside out. The hubby's new racing shoes came in it. It's one of those boxes you can unfold and basically turn it inside out. Here's a link I found to show you how if you want to try it. As my little kinders would say...it's easy peasy! You can see another one I did here. I still need to figure out what I'm going to keep in these and label them.

And that is my 5! Be sure to hop over and check out some of the other link-ups!

I hope you enjoyed your visit! I am working on reorganizing my craft room and hope to share some updated pictures soon. Have a blessed and beautiful weekend my friends.

Until next time.....
