Trash to Treasure....Repurposed Yo-Yo Boxes

Happy Sunday everyone! I wanted to share my yo-yo boxes with you today! These bad boys are literally a trash to treasure  project! My school had the yo-yo guy from the Ned Show come in and perform his motivational show with our student body. He leaves boxes of yo-yos for sale for a week or so after the show. Anywho, I was in the office checking my box for mail when I spotted these sticking out of the garbage can! I immediately went and dug them out of the trash and luckily they were unharmed. They are really large...bigger that a large pizza box. I think they held like 40 something yo-yos. They are nice and sturdy and the type of boxes you can unfold and lay out flat. I decided to unfold them and cover them with pretty wrapping paper. All it took was some spray adhesive and a lot of patience...:)

Here is the box in it's original state....

After it was unfolded.....

And here they are all done....:) Pretty huh?

The green and yellow wrapping papers are from TJ Maxx and very nice quality. The other two I picked up at the Dollar General for $1 each. They are really pretty but the paper is much thinner. I think it will hold up fairly well though!

Here is a picture showing the insert that was in each box. I am keeping them in there for now because I might end up making something small like hair bows or ornaments that I can store in them for my ETSY shop (if I ever get it started).

Now I know you probably don't have any spare yo-yo boxes laying around, but I shared this to show you how you can take trash and turn it into something worthwhile. You could cover any type of box....shoe boxes, clean pizza boxes, boot boxes, etc. I especially like the type of boxes that you can unfold and lay out flat....like a pizza box. What trash have you turned to treasure lately?

  1. Hi Vicky.. good save on the boxes, and you're right, they'd be good storage for Etsy inventory. I also wanted to thank you for your sweet note on my blog.
