Things that Made Me Smile.....

Have you ever  noticed how many things make you smile? I have had one heck of a long week and have just been so tired, but no matter how tired I am, I can always find something to smile about...:) Here are a few things that made me smile this week.....

Yesterday when I got home from work, I noticed a couple of butterflies fluttering around my azaleas. I didn't have my camera in my purse like I sometimes do, so I quickly ran inside and grabbed it so I could try to snap a quick picture! This is the only one I got because they quickly flew away when they realized I was there. They are such beautiful little creatures. The science teacher in me is fascinated by animals and plants. I just love nature.....God sure blessed us with some beautiful sights on this great planet Earth!

After the butterflies flew off, I happened to notice my English dogwood is finally blooming! I love these bright white flowers with the pretty yellow centers! I love the blue sky in the background as well....:)

My old girl, Sugar made me smile this week too. Sugar is my almost 18 year old polydactyl calico cat. I got her when my son was just 3 weeks old....so they are almost the same age! Some days when we pull up in the drive and spot her, we think she has passed away because she is laying so still. You see, she lost her hearing within the past few months and she doesn't hear us pull up anymore, so she doesn't run to meet us if she is sleeping and doesn't see us. Well, yesterday, we thought she was gone, but fortunately when we got close enough we could see her breathing...:) I pray when she does pass, that it is peacefully in her sleep.....

While out walking the other day, I had to smile at these two babies. One of them is older than the other of course, but it was too sweet the way they were hanging out together grazing. These are my Aunt Loretta's cows....she's the one who has given me so many pretties over the years...:)

That same day, we spotted a pretty patch of little blue flowers growing in the ditch. They are the prettiest color and about the size of my thumbnail....:)

I always smile about a great thrifty find too! I scored this huge wooden jewelry box at one of the local consignments this week for $4! It is in perfect condition and will come in handy in my craft room! I am planning to chalk paint it, replace the wooden knobs with pretty glass ones, and put cute little legs or feet on the bottom. I ordered some calcium carbonate from Amazon today to try my hand at making chalk paint. I have really been wanting to try it, but I simply cannot afford the Annie Sloan brand and don't know that I would buy it if I could! It is way overpriced in my opinion! I hope I like the chalk paint as much as I think I will....we shall see!

Anywho.....those are a few of my smiles for the week. Of course, there were many more, but unfortunately I don;t have my camera glued to my hand 24/7....as much as I would like to! I hope you have had your share of smiles this week too...:)

Until next time....

  3. I wonder if that was a Swallowtail butterfly? We used to find them in our garden in France.

    1. I'm rally not sure what kind it was. I tried looking it up, but didn't find one like it. It does look similar to the giant swallowtail, but I'm not sure. A garden in France just sounds so beautiful....:) Thanks for visiting!

  5. Hi Vicky! I sure enjoyed your photo tour and WOW that wooden chest is wonderful! Can't wait to see the re-painted version - I love the look of little glass knobs on a painted piece! Those little blue flowers remind me of chickory, which grows like crazy on the roadside here in the dry, gravely soil in summer. It's very pretty!
