Some of you may remember me sharing this red mirror in my post about mirrors. I don't know about you, but I LOVE mirrors and have a hard time walking away from them when I find such an awesome deal on them! Anywho, I have been wanting to repaint it for quite some time now and yesterday was the day! I had some paint left over from a previous project, so I decided to use what I already had.....so, no cost! Yay for free projects! Here is the mirror before....
And here it is after.....
I just love the intricate detailing in this piece! I am thinking about trying my hand at using that beautiful dark glaze on it that everyone is using all over blogland!
What do you think of the color? I really like it! I already have a few touches of this color in my decor in the living room....a couple of throw pillows & a pretty blue glass decanter. I would like to add a few more as well! Hopefully I can find something at the High Springs city wide yard sale I'm attending in a couple of hours!!! Can you say EXCITED! High Springs is a lovely little town about 20 miles from home. It is so charming and filled with antique shops and boutiques. I love driving through there...:)
So....back on task (I get distracted easily with visions of yard sales running through my head...lol) I also decided to share the vignette I put together on the little round table underneath the mirror. I used all items I had on hand. I started by cutting a piece of burlap to layer over the damask tablecloth. I like the texture it gives. I had a white, wood tray that is actually intended to be a paper tray for a desk, but it serves the purpose I needed it for here. I bought it years ago on clearance somewhere. From there, I added a stack of small books and a fake plant (left over from my daughter's previous apartment bathroom decor), a tiny owl from a recent thrifting trip, a candle holder (gift from my daughter a couple years ago) nestled inside another candle holder to give it some height, and a gorgeous lamp I stole from my nightstand! In front of the tray is a beautiful crystal and silver coaster from a set I bought a few years ago at the flea!
I bought the lamp at Target several years ago. It was a big splurge for me when I bought it even though it was only around $30!
Here it is all lit up.
The votive has a frosted letter H for Hunt on it. My daughter knows I like monograms...:)
Another shot so you can see the H better...:)
And one last before and after of the mirror.....
I hope everyone has a fabulous Saturday! I know I will since I am heading out to yard sale in about 45 minutes!!! Hopefully I will have some treasures to share tomorrow! Until then....
Love the blue. I've just added a touch of that in a rug (A Ross score) under my kitchen table and want to pull more of that color into my family room- kitchen-eating area in the summer. We have a lot of brown furniture and I want to soften with blue. All that info for my question :) What shade/brand did you use? I know every monitor shows color different, and mine shows your color as striking. Soft yet bold.
ReplyDeleteMarla....it is Valspar spray paint, Tropical Oasis. I got it at Lowe's and the cap is true to the color of the paint. It is a gorgeous shade of turquoise. I would love to see your new rug! Thanks for stopping by!
