Lovin' My Country Life & I've Been Featured!

Hello everyone!
Today I decided to share some of the things I love about country life! First thing I love is living just a few acres from my mama and daddy. I love being able to walk down the road and visit anytime I want. I went down for a short visit yesterday and took a few pictures while I was there. I noticed her purple wisteria is just starting to bloom....you can see it in the picture below. I love how it looks against the beautiful blue sky!

While I was there, I walked out with her to feed the chickens. Aren't they pretty? I am thinking I might need some chickens of my own one of these days! No rooster though....they scare me to death!

The best part of having chickens is having fresh eggs to eat! Mama shares her eggs with me, my sister, and my aunt when they are laying a lot! This was yesterday's eggs...:)

I also couldn't resist taking pictures of the lemon blossoms and baby lemons on my daddy's lemon tree! Look how beautiful the blooms are....the purple is so pretty and the scent is heavenly!

Look at all the lemons in this cluster below! I can't wait to make fresh lemonade! We love it! I also like adding a lemon wedge to my ice water!

Another fruit tree with beautiful blooms is my daddy's pear tree! Look at these delicate little beauties...:)

Today I decided to snap a couple pictures of the beautiful new aqua blue bowls I bought at TJ Maxx over the weekend. I know this isn't anything special for the table, but I love the color and the shape of the bowls and they make me smile! They were made in Portugal and I love the imperfect design and shape of them. Don't my cheese grits look even more yummy in this pretty bowl?

This picture is a little blurry (sorry about that) but I wanted to share my supper with you! If you stopped by yesterday, you probably read about the fish the hubs and son caught over the weekend. Well, tonight I fried them up for supper and made homemade baked beans and cheese grits to go with them. It was yummy!

I also wanted to share this beautiful camellia with you. I added it to the side table vignette you can see here. The blooming season for my camellias is nearing the end and I will miss their beautiful blooms until winter returns. (I will not miss winter though...lol!) This deep rose pink color is my favorite. It has just a hint of blue around the edges....absolutely gorgeous! As I was returning from my walk today, I noticed this bloom open and pointing at the ground so I couldn't enjoy looking at it on the bush. I decided to cut it and bring it in where I can enjoy it until it dies. They last several days before they wilt and need to be tossed out.

Well, I hope you enjoyed a your visit to the country! I am blessed to call Willie Mae Lane my home...:)

Another thing I'm lovin' is that I have been featured at Kathe With an E for my post on decorating for spring with my thrifty finds! I am so excited and honored! Be sure to go check her blog out if you haven;t already! I love visiting there and linking up for You're Gonna Love It on Tuesdays! Speaking of, I need to link up right now! So be sure to check her out...you will love it!

I'm also linking up with Marty for Tabletop Tuesday....another favorite linky party! Check her out too!

Thanks so much for visiting and do drop by again!

Until next time.....

  1. I have always wanted some laying hens, but the city does not allow them unless your lot is large enough. I get excited when the wisteria starts blooming - it is so beautiful - those big clusters of blooms. I saw your feature - Congratulations!

  2. Lovely pictures, Vicky! We have several small citrus trees, but they took a bit of a beating from the very frigid weather we had in January/February. It was very unusual for AZ, but now Spring has definitely sprung and all but one of the trees is starting to burst forth with new growth and flowers -- yay!

I'm so excited that you are following my blog, and I am now following yours! I just checked out your thrifty Spring decor which is adorable, and congrats on the feature. I am now off to see your craft room!
