Hello friends!
I'm excited to finally be linking up with Amy for Five On Friday!
I've been wanting to join this party for a while and now that I have extra time on my hands during summer break, I can do it! These 5 photos are all from my iPhone.
First up is a delicious new recipe I made for the hubby and I for supper earlier this week. It is called Skinny Enchilada Casserole. I was VERY impressed with this delicious dish and highly recommend you try it.
Number two is a shot of my new bar stools. I ordered these from Overstock and am loving them! This is the first time I have shared a picture of my bar area from the kitchen remodel. While I'm sharing, I have a question for you. See the white air conditioning return vent to the left? Do you think it looks OK white (the color it came in) or would it look better to paint it a color that would blend in with the wood and make it "disappear"? I am on the fence about it. If you don't mind, please give your opinion in a comment....your comments make me :) !
Number three is a two in one, so I cheated a little on the number...lol! I found this adorable little milk glass canister with the cute retro flowers on it a few weeks ago. I think I paid a dollar or so for it. Anywho, I wasn't loving the black lid, so presto, change-o...now it's pink! his little jewel will of course live in my happy place...my craft room!
Picture number four is also my happy place...I hung the new bunting I stitched last week. Isn't it cute? I love the green fabric with the thread spools on it!
And, number five is a simple little project I completed this week. I don't know about you, but I love the color of cardboard boxes. They are such a nice neutral color. I like to keep really nice, lidded boxes and reuse them in my craft room. The top one came this way with a pair of sandals I ordered. The bottom one is actually turned inside out. The hubby's new racing shoes came in it. It's one of those boxes you can unfold and basically turn it inside out. Here's a link I found to show you how if you want to try it. As my little kinders would say...it's easy peasy! You can see another one I did here. I still need to figure out what I'm going to keep in these and label them.
And that is my 5! Be sure to hop over and check out some of the other link-ups!
I hope you enjoyed your visit! I am working on reorganizing my craft room and hope to share some updated pictures soon. Have a blessed and beautiful weekend my friends.
Until next time.....
Gorgeous five on friday. Love the bar stools. I think blending the air con return in with the same colour as the wood would be good. Maybe just test a bit first and see what it might look like painted. Love the boxes, they look really pretty, and your bunting is some of the best I've seen, the fabric is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGreat pics, and, as always, love all of your projects. That retro jar lid is divine! It's amazing how just the lid color changed it totally. Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteHello dearest Vicky and a happy day to you...I am so glad to hear you've had some extra time to do a few of the things you love this Summer already:). I enjoyed your Five on Friday post! Today I am taking it slow as I unfortunately have a terribly sore throat and feeling quite grim...thus, a little catch up in the blog world is just the thing to inspire me:)
ReplyDeleteYour enchiladas look fabulous and oh, so scummy! I have never tried making them before, but maybe...
Sending big hugs and much love to you!
Have a delightful Father's Day weekend:)
Kelly-Anne
Love your new bar stools! I want some just like that when we do our kitchen reno in the fall. I think I'll have space for 4 of them - now I need to find them for the right price! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteLovely post, I think blending the air con would be good. Love the fabric for the bunting and the boxes are a real delight such a great idea. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteVery trendy bar stools. I would definitely change the white vent to a dark colour. I did this with mine, and it made all the difference. You don't want your eye drawn to a vent rather than your cool bar stools. You have lots of fun crafty things here. Great idea about turning the box inside out ... never thought of that! Have a great weekend :)

What adoring crafts you've shared!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd the enchilada looks mighty delicious!!
Love your five on friday! The bar stools are great! I might paint the grate but it's ok as is to me also. Crafty you this summer!
ReplyDeletehugs,
Linda
Hi Vicky! Isn't it nice to have extra time to catch up? I LOVE your bar stools. I keep wanting to get some metal ones but the wood ones I have are in such good shape, I can't justify it. But...
ReplyDeleteAnyway, do paint the grate. I think it stands out too much. It would look better blending in.
Have a wonderful and blessed weekend.
Hugs
Hi Vicky! Just love your blog and I'm your newest follower!
ReplyDeleteYou are so creative and crafty! Love the bunting and the boxes are fa! I'm inspired to make over some myself!
Great post!
Christine
You and your blog are so much fun, Vicky :) I loved seeing your pretty bunting hanging up and your boxes with the tape are just too cute!
ReplyDeleteAs for your vent....white looks okay, but I bet it would look delightful if you spray painted it {{smiles}} Whatever you decide I know it will look just dandy.
Enjoy your weekend. Hugs!
Love the barstools and your projects... I have a thing for cardboard too... are we strange?! lol!
ReplyDeleteI think I would paint the air return vent to blend... or how about one of these ideas I found on Pinterest? https://www.pinterest.com/pin/274578908507044409/ or https://www.pinterest.com/pin/555350197771762740/

So many great things!!! I am so happy that you have been looking forward to joining in and have been able to, thank you so very much!!! I love the folding the cardboard boxes the other way idea! That is so clever!!! As for your barstools - they are fantastic aren't they!! I can see why you might want to paint the vent, but I am always wary of doing such things as I find that after a while the paint can wear and so I would rather look at the white than the worn paint. Depends though you might be able to get better paint than me!! Love your little jar too! Thank you again so much for joining in. I hope that you have a great weekend! xx
ReplyDeleteLoved your projects and those darling retro cannisters! I saw the flags on Pinterest too! Glad you joined in...I am relatively new to Five on Friday myself. I'm joining in from Tucson AZ USA.
ReplyDeleteIt seems the consensus is to blend the air vent. I taught kindergarten for 7 years, subbed for a year, then worked in administration for 7 years. I'm so happy for summer vacation and the fact that I resigned so will have even more time on my hands since I don't have to go back in August (except to take my youngest to school who will be a senior). :) I save shoeboxes and use them for storage. Sometimes I use decoupage to spruce them up. Have a great weekend. Tammy
ReplyDeleteGreat new bar stools, Vicky. I always paint the air returns to match the surroundings...seems like they are always in a very conspicuous place and it's almost impossible to hide them.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
What fun! Five photos of five things. I have stools that look just like your new ones! I got them a few months ago and love them. Personally I would paint the air return.
ReplyDeleteI love Five on Friday....just haven't partied in awhile! Your five are great! I think I would paint the vent. It looks like there may be some black in the wood near the vent? You could paint it black as an accent or brown to match the wood. It is hard to say because you do have the white trim nearby!
ReplyDeleteHi Vicky, I've hopped over via Five On Friday. Clever girl! - I especially like what you've done with those boxes, they look fab. Hope you are having a good weekend. x
ReplyDeleteGreat projects! I love the curtains and bunting - super cute! Enjoy your weekend, J9 x
ReplyDeleteYour banner is so pretty! In love with the bar stools. Geat five post.
ReplyDeleteSwwet pics! Love your bunting and that skinny enchilada looks great.
ReplyDeleteI think my favorite is the little banner.
ReplyDeleteHave a great summer vacation!
