Hello friends! I hope this finds you having a restful Sunday. I have been having fun playing with my new Nikon today and thought I would share what I have been up to. I enjoy having time during the summer to craft and "play" in my craft room. I also enjoy setting a pretty table. I don't always have time for these things during the school year. This first photo was taken with my old camera. I only had a couple of the table on my new camera. This one was taken last night with the flash on.
I really like the way it turned out.
I used my "new" place mats that I bought last week. I like the natural element they bring to the table.
I used these natural filler balls to tie in with the place mats. I wanted to keep the look simple. The wooden ball with the silver leaves was thrifted and the rest were part of a gift I received from my Secret Santa at work last year.
You may remember the honeycomb and bee platter from last week as well. It found a home on the wall shelf in the dining room.
This is what my craft room looks like as a result of the bunting spree I went on! I really need to get in there and clean it up!
A couple years ago, I thrifted this adorable hand painted oil can. It has been sitting on one of the shelves on my sewing table for a while now. While I was turning my bunting triangles the other night, I was wishing I had something pointy to poke the end of the triangle with when I turn them. My scissors weren't working very well. I happened to look up and spotted the oil tin sitting there and thought it would work perfectly.
Guess what....it did! I used it to turn dozens of triangles! It will stay on this shelf and be used many times over the years. It now has a purpose...and it is cute to boot!
Let me share the buntings I have completed so far. This one is hanging in the house for now. It is in coral, white, and chambray blue. I wanted to share that I have a hard time throwing things away. See the striped fabric on the ends? That came from a pair of boxer shorts that belonged to my son. LOL The fabric was in such good shape and he didn't really like them, so into the stash it went! The blue floral was a dress I thrifted just for the fabric. It's a soft chambray denim and so pretty.
This one will hang in my craft room. Some of the triangles have spools of thread on them..so cute! The piece of fabric on top is from a pretty pillow case I thrifted once because I liked the fabric. Everything else was scraps from other projects.
This one is so cute! I used the new cherry fabric I bought last week and scraps of polka dot fabrics left over from some classroom projects a couple years ago.
The orange and turquoise fabrics were left over from classroom projects from about three years ago and the floral was a pretty fat quarter I bought at JoAnn's when they were on sale for $0.99 each.
This one is all scrap fabrics or some given to me by my mother-in-law who used to have a craft business.
I used some of the sweet bird fabric from last week's purchase in this one along with scraps I already had. Some of them are short and others are longer. All of them make me happy! Do you have a favorite?
These next three photos are just for fun. I am enjoying my new camera and finding various subjects to photograph. I really love the sun shining through the amber glass bottle on my kitchen windowsill. I needed basil the other day and Mama sent it to me in this pretty bottle. I believe it is from my Granny Valentine's collection.
This is just a weed but I was playing around with the zoom and liked how it turned out. I was amazed at the tiny little blooms on this weed. I didn't see them from where I was standing.
And, I was amazed that I could zoom in on this dragonfly with such clarity! This new camera is going to bring years of pleasure!
I hope you have had a lovely weekend. I have for sure. Yesterday I was blessed to be able to go wedding dress shopping with my niece and was there when she said YES to the dress! Such a sweet moment. And, what a gorgeous bride she will make! Today, the hubby and I, along with my Mama and Daddy met my son, Dakota and nephew, Jacob for lunch and a movie to celebrate Dakota's birthday. We went to see Jurassic World. Dakota loved these movies when he was a kid (I know they are violent, but he was a dinosaur lover and wasn't scared of them so I let him watch them.) and so did I. I wanted to see this new one but only with him. We all enjoyed the movie! It was a fun day! After that we came home and I've been playing around taking pictures to share with you. Hope you enjoyed them. And, I hope you have a wonderful week!
I'm joining Stephanie...
Until next time.....
