Nostalgia In the Air.....

Source

What better time of the year to feel God's glory than the fall. This season provokes nostalgia in me year after year. Fall always feels more like New Year's to me than the actual holiday. Maybe that is partly due to my being a teacher. My new year begins when students return to school towards the end of August until mid August of the following year. Fall brings with it, so many pleasures for me.....cooler temperatures, my favorite holidays, decorating my home for the season, soups and casseroles, yummy baked goods, family get togethers around a simple fire...toasting marshmallows for s'mores and roasting hot dogs, football games,  beautiful colors, sweaters, and so much more.

 I love the fall.

It fills me with hope.....excitement.....anticipation.....and joy.
I look forward to that little nip in the air every year....you know what I mean....you can feel it. I don't just mean cooler weather either....I mean that feeling that puts a spring in your step, and a smile on your heart as well as your face. It makes you long to go outside to bask in the cool air, and snuggle up somewhere to read a good book.  Even though I get sick almost every single year for weeks on end, I still love the fall. It has always been and will always be my favorite season. Is it yours? If not, what is your favorite and why? I would love to know...:)

I wanted to share a picture I took of Sadie asleep in the truck earlier. We went to my mother-in-law's house for lunch and Sadie went with us. She is so sweet sleeping here in her snazzy new chevron collar I bought her. She is just precious and growing like a weed!

This is how the first day of fall was here....rainy!
I am not complaining though as we needed the rain. And...I'm really hoping it will wash some of the allergens out of the air! We had a downpour! It's still raining and I have to say it's one of my favorite sounds.

As for fall decor, I still have to get my hubby to drag my boxes out of the shed. I did however buy a few floral picks for the metal cone I shared a week or two ago. I was going to try to come up with something unique and handmade to put in it, but I just don't have the time lately to be crafty and if I do, I've been too miserable to do it! So, I decided to take the easy route this time....and it's ok! I love it and am ready to get the rest of the house decorated.
Maybe next weekend.....

And if you didn't stop by yesterday, you may want to read this post. I shared a fun day with my family and posted some great photos. Prayers to you for a blessed Sunday afternoon and new week ahead!

Until next time....

  1. You've been busy Vicky this weekend! I also love autumn/fall as it feels more of a family season. This is when we all sit around the table on dark, cosy nights, eating comforting food and snuggling up together. I love it! Have a wonderful week my lovely xx

  3. For me it is that perfect fall day when the bright leaves bump up against an incredibly blue sky and the air is crisp and clean.

  6. Hi Vicky, just popping in to see what you're up too! :o) It's been raining all day here too, and windy :o( I love your new little cone pocket thing with the fall display. I'm not sure if I'm going to get to fall decorating this year or not... worked on my trailer again today (last time before we head out on Wednesday!) and I painted the kitchen yesterday afternoon so have to clean up that mess still. Anyway, hope you've had a nice weekend.

  10. I love Fall also Vickie! Not that we get real change of seasons down here but you are right, it's not always about the temperature.

Your tin on the door turned out way cute!

  11. I hate to see summer go, but I love fall when I can don my boots, jeans and sweaters. And, fires in the fireplace are high on my list.

  12. Sadie is so cute with her collar. I'm just in awe that you were able to do any fall decorating at all. It's 11:30ish pm and I just finished to get everything ready for school tomorrow. No decorating will be done today... again!
