Hello there and Happy Friday to you! I'm joining once again for Five On Friday by the lovely Amy! I do enjoy having time for fun parties during my summer break! Speaking of parties, last Friday I went to my friend, Jeana's house for lunch. We hadn't had a chance to get together lately, so my sister, Nancy and I went over for lunch. Our friend, Heather wasn't able to make it this time and we all missed her. It was a great day though! Jeana is known for her cooking ability...she is an awesome cook! Since we have all been trying to eat healthier, she made us a Cobb Salad. It was so delicious! Pretty too, huh?
And just look at that beautiful tablescape!
This is the reason we got together at Jeana's! She just had a brand new pool built and it is so gorgeous! We lounged in the pool for hours! I don't think we left until after six in the evening! I can't wait to go back again.
Saturday night, we watched fireworks!
Tuesday night, I tried another new to me Pinterest recipe. It was so delicious! I try to make a couple new recipes each week. They are almost always found on Pinterest and are always good! This was Asian Beef with Mushrooms and Broccoli. The recipe called for snow peas but I didn't have any so I used broccoli instead. I prefer broccoli anyway. It's one of my favorite veggies. It was very flavorful and I will definitely make it again.
Wednesday, I rode to town with my parents. I needed to pick up a few things and they were going, so I tagged along. We went to Taco Bell for lunch and someone had brought in some of these beauties. They are Dinner Plate Hibiscus. They were huge! I put my hand in front of one so you can see how big they are. So pretty! I want one!
Yesterday (Thursday), I invited Mama and my Aunt Loretta down for lunch. I made one of my favorite sandwiches....turkey, bacon, guacamole, lettuce, tomato, and chipotle mayo on a toasted sub roll. I cut up some sweet potato fries as well. It was pretty tasty. Mama made this delicious blueberry cobbler/crisp with coconut in the topping. We had it with vanilla ice cream...yum!
Thanks again Mama!
That's my week in review. I had a pretty quiet week. I slept in a few mornings (which I never do), and piddled around the house. I enjoyed some down time. I hope each of you had a lovely week. May your upcoming week be blessed, bright, and beautiful! Oh...if you're interested, pop in tomorrow if you would like a tour of my craft room. I will be joining the Where Bloggers Create party! Thanks for stopping by!
Until next time.....
Hi Vicky, it sounds like you had a lovely week! I love your friends pool! Have a wonderful Friday and weekend!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great five days!! The hibiscus flower is enormous isn't it, very beautiful too. Your friends pool looks wonderful, just the place to cool off on a hot day! Although that dessert that your Mom made looks so delicious that could cool you down too!! Thank you so much as always for joining in. I hope that you have a great weekend! xx
ReplyDeleteYummy looking food! I need to try new recipes more often! I wanna come and eat and lounge in the pool with you. Enjoy the down time when you can....we all need some.
ReplyDeleteIt all looks so relaxing! I haven't been in a swimming pool for YEARS! The food looks scrumptious!

Sounds like a good week.
ReplyDeleteThe phrase that resonated with me was "piddled around the house". That is about my favorite thing about retirement. The luxury to just piddle around!
What a lovely week you've had being with your dear friends and family. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteEverything in this post is eye candy! The pool looks so inviting. Yummy food and good friends, what could be better. I slept in a couple days this week also...hot summer days. :)
ReplyDeleteJeana has a wonderful new pool. I'm so glad you had a chance to spend time with friends and enjoy the down time.
ReplyDeleteYour Mom's dessert looks delish! I love blueberries and anything with coconut can't be bad.
Looking forward to seeing more of your craft room tomorrow!!!
Sound like a fun week Vicky. There's nothing wrong with sleeping in every once in awhile. Sunday is my sleep in day, and I enjoy it so much. Although when I was younger sleeping in meant noon, but now it means 9:30. lol. Probably because I go to bed earlier now. That blueberry cobbler looks amazing. I love anything with blueberries, and coconut just makes it even better.
ReplyDeleteWow! That hibiscus is gorgeous! Enjoyed your Five!
ReplyDeleteYUM! the blackberry cobbler looks delicious. Fun time with your friends at the new pool. I hope Heather is feeling okay - is her health better?
ReplyDeleteFun, fun! Always nice to hang out at the pool with friends! That cobbler looks yummy! And I have one of those hibiscus - I'll save you some seeds if you'd like to try to grow some. They are so stunning! Have a wonderfully blessed weekend, my friend.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Cecilia
