Random Tidbits

Hello friends and happy weekend...or should I say happy day because you may not be reading this on a weekend day! Just a few random tidbits to share today. I've still been super busy and don't see things slowing down anytime soon, but life is good! I wanted to share a few things I picked up when the hubby and I went on our anniversary date. He was such a sweetie and trudged along with me through Tuesday Morning and Hobby Lobby. I was absolutely thrilled to spot this Katie Daisy calendar at Tuesday Morning for just $5.99. I just love her artwork...so fun and whimsical! I can use these prints after the calendar expires and I already have an idea of how I will display them. They will of course be used in my craft room. Her prints scream happy to me!

This is one of my favorites!

Here's a glimpse at all 12 of them. I love each one!

I got all of these goodies as well. Most of them were super cheap at Tuesday Morning. I love that store and wish I could go more often. It's probably a good thing I cant't though! I bought lots of planner and scrapbooking goodies. I especially love the ephemera pack in the middle. So pretty! I recently organized all my ephemera and die cuts and will share that soon.

I also received a package in the mail this week from Peachy Cheap with all these die cut packs. I love using die cuts in my Project Life layouts.

You may remember the folders I got on clearance at Wal Mart a few weeks ago. I said I was going to frame some of them and this is the first one I framed. I love it! This frame has been painted and repainted at least 5 or 6 times.

Speaking of frames, let me share the two postcards I received in the mail from Miranda. The top one is Prague and the bottom is from her trip to Vienna. (She's in Berlin this weekend and really enjoying it). The bottom one begged to be framed. So.....

I took this obnoxious hot pink frame I bought at the Family Dollar over the summer to paint and use for something. It was the perfect size with just a little space for a mat.

I dug through my scrap paper stash and found a piece of black paper to back it with and here it is now. I love the gold with the black mat and think it complements the postcard nicely.

Here is is on my gallery wall. Another meaningful piece added to the others.

I also recently printed a new piece of "artwork" for my clipboard. I love this quote from Anne of Green Gables! And, I love the muted orange and aqua colors of this print.

Speaking of orange and aqua, here's some fabric I bought several months ago to make a fall bunting with. No time like the present since fall has finally arrived in Florida. At least in the mornings and evenings. It has been a little cooler during the day as well. It is a refreshing change from the near 100 degree humid weather we normally have.

Here it is before I pressed it.

And here it is hanging. Not the best picture, but I like the cozy vibe it has. This is actually my view right now as I type. I just took that photo with my iPhone.

Last weekend when the hubby and I went grocery shopping, we decided to stop by the flea market. I have been much more selective in what I drag home these days and hardly ever go thrifting anymore, but every now and then I NEED to go. So, we stopped and walked about for a bit. I found only one item to buy. I actually almost didn't buy it, but I couldn't resist. I have always wanted a stool like this. and it was only $3.

There are some imperfections for sure, but I love it! I couldn't pass it up since it is my favorite color.I cleaned it very well. It was absolutely filthy! I love the patina on it...it gives it character.

Here's where I put it. I always drop my purse and things on a chair I had here after work, but this cutie took the place of the chair. I really like it here.

I will leave you with a couple of Miranda's European Adventure photos. She posted this first one on Facebook & IG earlier this week with this caption.....

"It's definitely fall in the Czech Republic. And, it's also already too cold for my warm Floridian heart. 32 degrees in October? That's a first for me.‪#‎MirandaMovesAbroad‬ ‪#‎Prague‬ ‪#‎FallLeavesMakeMeHappy‬"

I love this picture so much! The leaves are just beautiful. We don't get the gorgeous oranges, reds, and golds that other places do.

And here is one she posted today from Berlin. Another gorgeous fall tree. It has an ombre look to me! I love looking at all her pictures.

And, that wraps up this post folks. A bit random I know. Seems like that's all I blog about when I do get the chance. I'm always so happy to hear from each of you. Your comments truly bring a smile to my face and to my heart. I have made so many "friends" here in blog land and I truly love and appreciate the friendships I have here. I hope you have a delight filled rest of the weekend.

Until next time....

  2. Vicky,
First of all, Miranda's pictures look so wonderful...I can't imagine 32 degrees in October either! But oh to have those stunning Fall foliage colors! Then I really like the stool you found. So cute. The bunting is so bright and happy. I like the addition to your gallery wall too...the frame definitely looks better painted. Lol. Have a great rest of the weekend.

  3. Some lovely tidbits here Vicky! I love what you did with the frame and your wall is fantastic. We are surrounded by trees like Miranda's and I can't wait for our autumn break so I can go out and about to capture the colours before winter really takes hold. Have a wonderful week my friend xx

  5. Hello Sweet Vicky, Wow! What an interesting post. I love the fact that Miranda is enjoying her new adventure; how wonderful that she is doing this while she is young and free. It seems as we get older we start accumulating more strings that hold us down. I'm not saying that is a bad thing . . . I love all of my strings :) . . . it is just that they do restrain us from the freedom of youth.
Your banner is charming and I love your collection of pitchers above it.
Well, here's to your life slowing down a bit and giving you more time to use all the pretty new items you purchased for your happy place. :)
    Keep smiling.
    Connie :)

  6. I agree with Connie. Now is the perfect time for Miranda to be going through this wonderful experience. She looks so happy, and I'm sure that warms your heart.

My hat is off to you Vicky...you say you're going to do something and you actually do it! lol I have so many things I want to frame but never quite get around to it. It's always 'someday', and we all know how that goes. ;)

The stool was a great find! I'm always amazed at the prices you get. Like you, I've become quite selective with what I bring home and I shop less these days, but I don't know if I could have resisted that cutie either.

Enjoy your week! (If you like Fall pics, stop by the blog today).

  7. What a sweet post... it's so nice to hear random tid bits from your life that make you happy :o) I love the bunting you made, it looks so nice where you hung it, I sat there for awhile staring at that picture absorbing it all, it all looks so homey! The postcard looks great framed and I LOVE that little stool you bought!

I've been TRYING to not go thrifting as much and I've been working on cleaning up my terror trove spare bedroom as well as working on furniture projects from the garage!

Are you guys working on any home projects at the moment?

  8. I love your chatty posts! Feel like catching up with a friend!! I love the items you got from Tuesday Morning. I was there the other day and found a couple of things but will be checking back again soon. The little ephemera pack is something I wish I could find at that price! I really love your new quotes and the post card from Miranda. I want a gallery wall but don't know where to start. I'm going to study yours and start laying things out on the floor..maybe :) You know I love your banners and I see the one you made me each morning when I wake up and it always makes me smile and think of you and your family. I need to try to catch up on some blogging today. I also don't thrift much anymore but yes I would have bought that adorable stool for $3. Big hugs to you my sweet friend.

  9. I think all my posts seem to be hodge podge lately, but they sure are fun. Glad Miranda is happy and doing so well. Love the photo, she is a lovely young woman. The framed postcard turned out great. Painting the frame made all the difference, from ugly to beautiful. Very sweet stool, and useful. :)

  10. Hi Vicky! :)
Love your new blog header with your new photos! Love your finds from Tuesday Morning - that is a great store and there is one not too far from here. I first discovered it in Florida not too far from where my in laws have a winter place.
Your gallery wall is amazing and I love the post card Miranda sent you in that gold frame.
So nice to see that she is seeing the world. It is very cheap to travel there, and there are so many other places close by for her to see! It is amazing for a Florida girl to be experiencing fall leaves and 32 degrees! ;)
Love the stool (color is my favorite too!) and the bunting you made is so pretty!
That Anne of Green Gables quote is near and dear to my heart!
    Have a wonderful week!
    Hugs, Kimberley

  12. I love your random tidbits, Vicky! I always get so inspired when I stop in for a visit. I love the Fall banner you made, that is such a great idea! Might have to convince my MIL to sew me one. Haha!
I love that you paint your picture frames. I have so many that need some fresh paint! Hopefully I can get a few things refreshed when my guys go hunting. And that little stool you found is perfect and it is sooooo you!
I'm so glad Miranda is doing well. Those leaves are gorgeous! Our leaves are starting to change here, but it's still very warm, I'm afraid once we get the cold temps, the leaves won't have time to change, they'll just fall off. Silly weather! I need to get out and go take a few pictures!

Anywho, I'm glad you are well! Take care!
    Hugs my friend, Amy

It looks good in the entry way and the banner is pretty.Your daughter sounds like she is really enjoying her new life. The photos from her are beautiful. The frame is much better gold. 17. That is quite the haul you made at Tuesday Morning....I haven't been in awhile. That's a store that fits the random category.....you have to go in fairly often, because one time you find all kinds of goodies and the next there is nothing! Your little stool is adorable! So glad your daughter is really enjoying her time in Europe.
