A Valentine's Celebration in September?

Happy Sunday friends! I have had a wonderful weekend! I hope you are able to say the same! Friday evening I came home feeling exhausted and a little frustrated from various events going on last week. Anywho, I wasn't feeling like doing anything, but sitting in the recliner with my laptop. Well, my sister called and told me to get dressed and she would be over to pick me up in 5 minutes. I asked her why and she said she was taking me out to dinner. I really didn't feel up to it, but she wouldn't take no for an answer, so I went. I am so glad I did. We had a nice dinner and got to catch up on life...:) The next day, we went shopping together and hit a couple of thrift stores. I will share the few things I bought tomorrow though, since I already had a post planned for tonight.  After we finished shopping, we came home and I started baking! We had plans to go to mama and daddy's to celebrate their 46th anniversary with a yummy supper.  That's what I am sharing with you tonight.

I baked a delicious cake called Raspberry Zinger Poke Cake. I found it on Pinterest and here is a direct link to the recipe. I highly recommend you try it....especially if you love Hostess Raspberry Zingers  as much as me! It was so good! Everyone loved it...:) Well, everyone except my son who does not like coconut!
Here are a couple photos....

First with just the cool whip...

Next with the coconut added...

And here is a slice! This stuff is heavenly!

OK....so, I also baked a pan of brownies for the non coconut lovers. Then, we headed over to mama and daddy's. If you are a regular reader, you know I live by my sister and parents, so it is just down Willie Mae Lane...:) We got there and daddy had this set up in his shop.

And this is what is contained!

Ever had a Low Country Boil? I am sure most of my southern friends have. If you haven't, you don't know what you're missing!

You have to like shrimp to eat this stuff. Fortunately, we ALL love shrimp round these parts! Our boil contained red potatoes, corn, shrimp, and kielbasa sausage. It was so good!

Here is the pan filled with all the yummy goodness!

And....here is my serving! I wish I had a few of those shrimp tonight! I don't care for sausage, that's why you don't see any on my plate.

And here is the beautiful couple we were celebrating. My parents....the Valentine's. Yep, that's their last name....I used to be Vicky Valentine. My mama and daddy just grow deeper in love with each passing year. They are such a beautiful example of what a marriage should be. I don't know what I would do without them. I am blessed and my cup runneth over.....

Ok...before I get all emotional and start tearing up, on to just a couple random photos!
I took this of my hibiscus this morning on the way out. SO pretty...:)

And this little cutie will be coming to live with us in just a few days! You might remember me introducing you to Sadie a couple weeks ago.

Dakota brought her over to my mother-in-laws again today. She is walking and running around now. She is growing so fast. I am in love with her....:) She loves me too! She kept sitting on my feet and sticking her head between my ankles.

Isn't she the cutest?

Have a blessed week my friends. I have lesson plans to type so I must go! Oh...and I just found out today that I was reverted back to a no reply blogger again, so several of you have probably missed comments from me! I don't know how long it was like that. I have reverted back to Blogger in hopes that will stop.

Until next time.....

  2. Well, I told you to have something inspirational to let my husband live another day and you came through. I do not know what special powers you have to always give me a devotion for the week. In November we will celebrate our 33th anniversary and I certainly hope we make it to our 45th! Love the new pics of Sadie - she is such a doll. Of course we have Low Country boils here. Yours was fancy. We just roll out some brown kraft paper down the outside table and dump the pot in the middle. Then it's everyone for themselves! Another week to be happy for!
