I'm Back...and Have a Kitchen Update!

Two week....I can't believe I haven't blogged in two weeks. Not that I haven't thought about it a dozen times, but I have been busy folks! Busy spending time with family and friends, working on the kitchen, teaching, and so on. Life is good and I am blessed beyond measure! I'm happy to have time to share a little kitchen update and a sweet giveaway I won.
Here are some pretty flowers I offer up as an apology for my absence.

I've never bought tulips before. I don't know why. They are so pretty! I love this bright, sunny yellow. If you look beyond the flowers, you can see a bit of my new shelves. Would you like to see more?

Here you go! I am so excited that the hubby finished my shelves last week. I have been impatiently waiting for them for weeks and I am in love! I had so much fun creating vignettes on them the night he finished them. I'm sure they will change frequently, but I'm happy with them for now. These are on the left side of my window and sink.

And, these are on the right side. I'll share a photo of the whole wall when I finish painting window and corner trim and sew my curtain. Soon...very soon! What do you think?

I am still loving my wood look tile counter tops. They are so beautiful! We got the veneer edging on and stained.

Here's the new rug I ordered from Overstock to go in front of the sink. I had reward points from an order my sister placed through my account, so this rug didn't cost me anything! I wanted something bright and colorful and that's what I got. You can see the toe kick we put in today. I wanted it stained instead of painted white. I thought that would be easier to keep clean. We installed the flooring last week.

We have a few more things to finish.....

*hook up dishwasher (almost complete)
*install range hood
*finish installing trim & paint it
*pantry shelves and door
*bar top
*install one light fixture

I think that's it. We are so close! I never realized how many little details there are to a kitchen remodel. It has been a lot of work, but so much fun too. I have enjoyed seeing my vision come to life before my eyes. Such a rewarding feeling.

So, let me share a sweet giveaway I won from my sweet friend Pam over at Virginia Retro. She recently had a spring giveaway and I was the lucky winner! Look at my goodies.....

Everything was wrapped up in sky blue tissue paper and a sweet blue gingham box and topped with one of Pam's sweet handmade tags. This sweet yoyo was on top of the gingham box...:)

I love this little tablecloth...so springy! It will soon be adorning my table. That is as soon as we get all the remodel tools off of it!

Isn't this beautiful!

I love the sweet little strawberry dish that was included in the giveaway. Some of you know I love setting my table with a strawberry theme on occasion!

So many vintage goodies...:)

And another pretty tablecloth. Someone put a lot of time into this one. I look forward to using my new treasures Pam. Thanks again! If you don't know Pam, you should go visit her right now. She has the most amazing collection of vintage tablecloths I have ever seen! And she and Mr. Retro have quite a collection of other vintage items as well. She has a cute fur baby too....go over and see Doyle! He's so adorable...:)

I hope to be back soon. This week my kinders take a standardized test called Stanford-10. I pray they do well! We have been reviewing and they are well prepared. I will be glad to get it over with though.  It's a lot of stress for me and the kiddos! Have a blessed and beautiful week my friends! I plan to...:)

Until next time.....

  3. Love the look of the beadboard with the tile countertop. The open shelves are styled so well. You hit the vintage jackpot with your prize. I can see that strawberry bowl filled with strawberries and cream.

    Yuck - standardized testing.

  5. Hi Vicky, your kitchen is looking beautiful and your idea to stain the toe kick is very wise. I had painted mine white in our other house and it was always a mess. I got to the point of just giving it a once a year paint over. That was easier that scrubbing off the scruff-marks. You must be so happy each time you walk into your new kitchen. You and your hubby did such a lovely job. I love white kitchens!
    Great tablecloth, too . . . I'm a big fan of vintage tablecloth's.
    Have a wonderful week.
    Your blogging sister, Connie :)

So lovely to meet you! Your kitchen vignettes on your new shelves are very pretty! I would have done the exact same thing: started styling them as soon as that last nail was hooked! And, your yellow tulips add sunny appeal to the already bright space!

  21. Your kitchen looks great! It's been awhile since I've visited your blog. Your kitchen cabinets look the same as mine and thank you for the tip on the toe kick (we still have not done that).I was planning on painting it white for both the bathroom and kitchen but not now! My floors are cork in the bathroom and will be wood in the kitchen so I'm going to match the floors....thank you tons for that idea! So glad I had not done that yet! You are a lot further along than I am, this is the 2nd winter working on this one and it's still not finished...but thank goodness my dishwasher is hooked up but hubby did not get my pendant lights up over the bar (and he's an electrician so there's no excuses!!!). I can't wait to see more of yours! Love the shelves too! Have fun!

  22. Aww Vicky, your "patience" was well worth the wait.
You and your husband have done a fabulous job with all the remodeling. Everything is just lovely.
I was so happy to see that you were the winner of that awesome love gift. What a special treasure.

Those tulips in their bright yellow are gorgeous!! Tulips are my all time favorite flower, just love them.
I have tried over the years to plant the bulbs in our garden, but to no avail with our grey squirrels. They sit and watch me do all the planting, then sneak in and eat the bulbs.

Have a beautiful and blessed week-end, Vicky.
    Love, Debbie
