A Lovely Afternoon Walk

What a lovely afternoon I've had! My principal let us go home right after the kids today and I took up the offer! I got home around 3 pm and started snapping my green beans I bought over the weekend. I haven't had a chance before tonight. Don't they look good?

After I got my beans cooked, I called mama to see if she wanted to go for a walk. We're trying to get back in a routine with our walking, but it's been difficult lately. She said she did, so we set out on a walk. We stopped by my cousin's house for a few minutes to see their precious new baby. She's two weeks old today and I haven't had a chance to see her. She is so tiny...still under 6 pounds!
Oh, how I love a newborn baby..:)
After we snuggled Jillian for a few minutes, we walked on. I love this vine on the fence....so pretty.

This piece was so pretty climbing up the fence.

Just beyond the fence is my cousin's geese. They are so pretty but I'm glad they're behind a fence!

We walked on up the road to my Aunt Loretta's house to visit her and her granddaughter who is down visiting from out west. I took a picture of this pretty, little flower when we started to leave.

We walked on home after our visit and stopped by to talk to my sister who was just getting home from work. We chatted for a few minutes and then Sadie and I headed through the woods to go home. This is the little path through the woods that the dogs use to go back ad forth to visit...:) I use it too!

I noticed a few new blooms on my camellias while walking through the yard. They have bloomed longer than usual this winter. These peppermint ones are so pretty!

But this beauty is my favorite. The edges are blue. It looks like someone dusted the edges with blue eyeshadow like I wore back in the eighties! LOL...:) For some reason this plant has two different types of blooms and this particular one doesn't bloom much. I might get two or three per year.

Upon closer inspection, I noticed a little visitor hiding inside. I took a picture before urging him to hop out so I could bring the flower inside. I want to enjoy these last few blooms for a few days inside.

As I walked on to the shop to talk with the hubby, I noticed the sun streaming through the trees and illuminating these azaleas. So pretty....

I talked to Joey for a few minutes and he showed me the progress he's making on his race car he's building. (I've never mentioned racing on here before since it's been a few years since we raced, but Joey raced cars for several years and Dakota raced go-karts. They are both very good at it and are going to take turns driving the race car when it's ready. It's been a great father-son project!) Anywho, I checked it out and then headed toward the house to eat a bowl of those green beans! I stopped on the way to check out the tiny leaved budding out on my red maple. I love this tree! We planted it a few years ago and it has grown so fast and is so pretty.

I came inside, grabbed a milk glass bowl and put my bouquet in it since the stems are really short. I sat my flowers by my new yummy smelling candle and of course, had to take a picture!

And then....I of course, had to have a bowl of my green beans and new potatoes! That was my supper...just a bowl of fresh veggies! They were delicious if I do say so myself...:)

So, that was my afternoon in a nut shell...okay, so maybe it was a coconut shell since it was a lengthy post...lol! I hope your Wednesday afternoon was as nice as mine! Only two more days of work and then the weekend! I am looking forward to a birthday dinner with some friends Friday night and then hopefully getting in the yard to work and plant some flowers Saturday. We have had some gorgeous weather lately and I just want to be outdoors! Maybe I'll have Joey put a clothes line up for me too and hang my laundry out this weekend...:)
Until next time.....
