Trust

You may remember me mentioning my friend, Heather, who was recently diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. Well, yesterday, my sister and I went to visit and took lunch to eat with her and catch up on life.  I have been in a crafting mood lately and had just made several of these sweet little banners and thought, why
not make one for Heather. So, I got busy and did just that and took it to her when we went to visit.

Heather is a precious friend and a member of my "girlfriend group" that I love dearly. She has been my sister's best friend for years...since high school. We have been on several girl's weekend getaways over the past several years. She is a wife and mother of two handsome sons, a daughter, sister, aunt, dental hygienist, and friend. She is a lover of Mickey Mouse, pasta & tomatoes, hot tea, and Trader Joe's cookie butter. She is the reason I fell in love with apothecary jars (although she doesn't really know this). While visiting her one day, I went into her bathroom and noticed she had her q-tips stored in the cutest little jar. I commented on it and I think she said she bought it at a yard sale. Well, not long after, I found my first one at a yard sale or somewhere for $1 and bought it and I was hooked. I have a hard time passing them up now. They are so pretty and come in handy for so many things. One day I am doing a post on my apothecary jars and the things they contain. Anywho, back to Heather.....she runs 5K's, loves to spend time on their boat on the Suwannee River and the Gulf, used to teach my Sunday School class, & is a talented photographer. But most importantly, she is a beautiful child of God. I hate that she is having to deal with cancer at such a young age (any age for that matter), but she is trusting God to lead her on this journey.
What more perfect word for her banner than.....

She is also full of.....

and

This is the little banner all put together. I thought she could hang it somewhere where she will see it often as a constant reminder to keep trusting in God....for God is BIGGER than cancer. She said she is going to hang it in her bathroom since that is her little sanctuary...:)

It was so nice spending the day with Heather, my sister Nancy, and my best friend Jeana. Our friend Shea was there for a while too and I don't see her often so it was nice catching up with her too. I love having friends that I can count on. We are all busy and may not see each other often, but we all love each other dearly. We are all so comfortable with each other that we just pick up where we left off and we will always be there for each other. I hope each of you have at least one friend like that. I am blessed to have a few...:)

But I TRUST in you, O LORD; I say, "You are my God."

~Psalm 31:14

Just wanted to share a little about my dear friend. She will be starting chemo at the beginning of February.
I appreciate the thoughts and prayers many of you have sent. I will update occasionally to let you know how she is doing. Thank you all for taking time to read this and for your friendship. I may not hang out with you in person, but you are all special friends too and a part of my virtual "girlfriend's group".....:)

Well.....it's back to work for this girl tomorrow! Two days of trainings and working in our classrooms and the kiddos return Wednesday. I'm looking forward to seeing them....and hearing all about their Christmas break. I bet I will hear..."Mrs. Vicky....guess what I got for Christmas?" more than once...lol!

Until next time.....

  2. I have been keeping Heather close in my heart as she begins her battle. The banner will be a constant reminder for her to maintain her strength, trust, and faith. It is so nice to connect with friends. As for school, I think I would rather be teaching than training!
