Puppy Love

You all will probably get tired of reading about Sadie, but I just had to share a few photos since she moved in yesterday! I am just in love with this precious little fur baby. She is so much fun. She sleeps a lot since she is still a baby, but she likes to play too! Here she is asleep with her toys.

And after her first bath...:) She wasn't too fond of it!

Asleep on her blankie in her favorite spot on the sofa.

I have never really noticed this on any dog before and I am sure it is common, but I found it fascinating that her toenails are light colored on the toes that have white hair and dark colored on the toes that have dark hair. So funny!

And her little tail is so cute....black on top and brown underneath with a white tip.

She loves her puppy chow. I still have to buy her some dishes. She puts her paw in the pie pan to keep it still...:) Pretty smart girl!

Ok...I promise I won't let Sadie consume my posts, but I will share a photo here and there to show you how she is growing. Farrah....my newest kitty is not too sure about her, but she doesn't hate her either. She seems very curious about her.

Moving on...I finally got around to recovering a chair I have been wanting to recover for a while. This is the third time I have recovered it in about as many years. This is before...sorry it's not too clear. And those big red and green circles in the background are the beginning of something I am making for school....center rotation wheels.

Here's a close-up of the fabric I used to recover it. It was left over from a chair project I helped my niece with a while back.

I love the aqua blue background.

I like it! It used to sit in my craft room, but it is now sitting in my dining room.

Speaking of my dining room, I set a new tablescape today.I know everyone is beginning to decorate for fall, but I decided to do one last summery tablescape today. I had not had a chance to use my pretty new vintage tablecloth and the colors really called for summertime!

I really like the simplicity of the table. It is very pretty...:)

I used my beautiful crystal ball stem wine glasses. I have never shared these before. They were one of my first thrifty purchases a few years ago. This was about the time I got hooked on thrifting...:) I got a set of 8 for I think it was $12.  I could resell them on ebay or ETSY for at least $50...if I wanted to. I love them though and will be keeping them for a long time I'm sure. The other small stemmed glasses came with a decanter I bought several months ago. I think they are for sherry, but I am not sure. I just think they are pretty, and since they have never been on the table, I set them out.

I chose to use the fruit plates I bought a while back that I had not had a chance to use yet. I placed them on top of my plain white china plates.

I also used the ceramic bird napkin rings I hadn't used on a table yet.

The centerpiece is simple...a footed milk glass vase with one of my daisy arrangements stuck inside. I used my candlewick salt and pepper shakers and a little green bird I bought at Kirkland's a couple years ago when my daughter worked for them. I loved that because she always gave me her discount...:)

My vintage oil and vinegar cruets sit on either side, flanked by my mercury glass votives. The votives place mats, and green bird are the only things on the table that were purchased new, although they were all discounted when I purchased them!

Love is a fruit in season at all times, and within reach of every hand.
~Mother Theresa
I wanted to share this quote from Mother Theresa. Since this post was mainly about my love for little Sadie and the fruit I dressed the table with, I thought it was fitting. Oh how I wish we could all always remember these words. We all need to spread our love around. There are so many folks who may really need that one simple act of kindness, a smile, or a  kind word. We need to spread random acts of kindness and they need not cost anything. Let someone check out ahead of you that has only a few items compared to your cart full. Hold the door for someone. Volunteer time somewhere....the pound, a nursing home, school, hospital, etc. If you do have a few dollars to spare, pay for the person's order in the drive through behind you. Give a larger than usual tip if you dine out somewhere. If you enjoy crocheting or knitting, or even sewing, make hats or blankets to donate to Hospice. You can also donate snacks since they keep snacks out for family members who are at the facility day in and day out. Coming from personal experience with this, it is a blessing to those families. There are countless ways you can help someone in some way. Help restore the sense of good in this world that is often times over-shadowed by the bad. Help to restore faith in humanity. I have been discouraged lately....I have allowed myself to dwell on things I have no control over. I have been deeply discouraged by the behavior of people. I want to find a way to get past these feelings and not let them consume me. I want to do more to improve the world.....do you? I challenge each of you to spread just  one random act of kindness this week. I plan to do the same....:)

I pray each of you have a blessed week.....

Until next time!

  5. She is so cute! It's not easy going thru puppy training, all that piddlin and sharp razor teeth, but so worth it! Remember that, lol.
