Thrifty Treasures!

Hi y'all! This morning I got the itch to go to thrifting! Do you ever get that itch? I love thrifts, consignments, Goodwill's, etc. So many treasures.....both new and old! Today I only went to one thrift store, but I hit the jackpot! I've been trying not to go as often because I find so many treasures and my house just can't hold them all. I am trying to be more selective in purchasing only things I have been looking for, collecting, or just absolutely love. The first thing I am sharing fits the last description....I fell in love!

Here's a sneak peek.....

and another.....

And, here they are in all their glory! I love everything about them...from the size and style, to the beautiful shade of aqua blue that I adore. They are vintage and heavy weight glass. No damage anywhere....I paid $4.99 for the set. I can just picture these in an ocean themed tablescape with my white china and lots of sea shells and candlelight. Maybe when I get home from Pennsylvania....but first I need to find just the right place mats. I already know what I want....I just have to find them!

Next up is this gorgeous brass lamp base. It is quite heavy and has such pretty detailing. I am going to paint it, but I have to decide on a color first...:) It was just $1.49.

I have been looking for wire baskets and am collecting metal planters for the porch we hope to build this year. The basket was $0.69 and the planter was $0.39.

I bought a couple 4th of July decorations too....the plate was $0.39 and the little metal star basket was $0.69.

This straw wreath form was just $0.39 so it came home with me. I just might need it at some point!

These were my splurge for the day. They are each about 12 inches in diameter and are made of a heavy resin/cement type material. As you can see, they have mirrors in the back, but I removed those. I knew exactly what I wanted to do with these when I spotted them. I painted each of them a different bright color and am going to hang them on my shed to brighten it up. I can't wait to show you how they turned out, but I am working on another shed project and can't share until I finish it too! These were $3.79 each but still had stickers on the back from Beall's Outlet for $12.99 each, so not too bad.

Here's a close up of the bee....he's my favorite!

I bought this large basket to place on my buffet to hold platters, but I am sure it will be used all over the house holding various items over time. The big, ugly raffia bow will be going in the garbage and the basket will be getting a paint job! I think it was around $3.00.

This little box was just $1.29. I like the metal banding, handles, and hardware on it, but not the fruit. I am thinking of mod podging something over it....not sure what yet. Any ideas?

I found another sweet little white ironstone pitcher for my collection.....I think it was $1.39.

These large enamel strawberry bowls were only $0.79 and $0.89 each. I had thought I would list them in my ETSY store which I am working on, but just had a brainstorm and think I might use them for planters outside. I might even plant strawberries in them and maybe stack one inside the other somehow! We'll see...:)

This item was a freebie I got from my mom and dad's earlier when I went to eat lunch with them. It is a large metal freezer basket. I have been wanting a similar one for a while. You cant beat free!
Farah approves...:)

Little cutie!

This last item was my steal of the day! I have been looking for a large cloche forever! I spotted this one high up on a shelf and just knew they were going to want too much for it. I made my way over to it and carefully lifted it off the shelf and to my amazement, the sticker said..........$1.49!!! I couldn't believe it! It is huge....probably at least 15 inches tall.

It will cover many things through the years as well, but let me show you what I did with it for now. I took one of the mirrors that I removed from the insect plaques above to place underneath. I placed the mirror on top of a tatted piece, and placed several of my old soda bottles on the mirror.

See it on the lower shelf.

And here is a close up....I just love it!

Have you found any treasures while thrifting lately? I always have so much fun, even if I don't find anything good. I hope you all have a blessed evening and as always, thanks for visiting!

Until next time.....

  2. Cloche encounter of the super bargain kind! I would have picked the plaques definitely and the cloche most positively and the free freezer basket is always a yes. Plus the basket came with a kitty approval rating.
